Cliff Martinez - Solaris (Score) [SOUNDTRACK] [2002]
Pop December 31st, 2007
Review by Soaring Heart
Do you ever find Music that every time you listen you are touched in an inexplicable way? It is as if the Music doesn’t just filter through your ears but through your blood, your mind, your heart and your very Being? Well, this score does these things for me. I treasure it and will listen to it for years to come I know. It’s relaxing–I like to fall asleep to it as well as wake slowly to it. (Not a morning person here, folks. I don’t jump out of bed whistling! Heh.) Yet Solaris is also stimulating to me as I enjoy reading/studying to it and find that I remember what I read with an astounding amount of clarity and understanding. Perhaps because the movie stays with me and I think about it’s meaning a lot that this score haunts me so. (I love movies that are up for the viewers’ interpretation!) But I doubt it, for both the score and the movie stand on their own but together–I’m speechless here trying to think of a word…MAGICAL–that is as close as I can get and still doesn’t do it justice. I think because it stimulates me on a spiritual level. In any case, I highly recommend both the movie and this haunting score. Oh and yes, I do love the cover…
